James R. Sutton is a valued affiliate consultant in cross-border and international forensics and investigations. He possesses thirty years of experience in both public and private sector investigations, focusing on complex white collar crime, national security and transnational matters. Mr. Sutton has developed a broad network of professional associates worldwide and is well established in the community as an accomplished, proven analyst and investigator.
Sutton began his career as an Inspector for the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, and afterward, as a Special Agent with the FBI. Subsequently, he worked as a GS-14 Intelligence Analyst for the Department of Justice (INS). As a contractor he worked on assignments in Iraq and Afghanistan, after which, he held the position of Director of the Highway Information Sharing & Analysis Center at the Department of Homeland Security, Freedom Center.
His private industry experience includes international senior security management appointments with Avon, AT&T, Chase Manhattan Bank and Sears Roebuck, in addition to his position as Director of the Office of Security Programs, University of Illinois at Chicago, Office of International Criminal Justice.
Mr. Sutton is currently the founder and managing director of the North American Intelligence Exchange, a company focused on research and the analysis of transnational crime, workplace violence and Title IX violations at academic institutions. He has successfully completed assignments in Europe and Latin America, with a skill set that includes advanced fluency in the Spanish Language.
In addition to his vast expertise in the management of transnational investigations, Mr. Sutton is an expert in conducting vulnerability assessments for high risk facilities. Past projects include the Risk and Vulnerability Assessments for Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington DC, the National Institutes of Health and National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases and their respective Bio-Safety Laboratories in Bethesda, MD., Hamilton, MT Research Triangle, NC., and most recently 2013, Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA.
